Cherokee Beading and stones used:
All these necklaces contain a mixture of beads: Turquoise, Coral, Black Onyx, Riverstone, Jasper, Jade, Howlite and buffalo bone (ethically sourced).
I’m so proud to share these traditional handcrafted pieces. The artisan Sherry of Cherokee decent was raised on a reservation and has been beading over 50 years!
Their price is reflective of Native American traditions, wisdom, healing and history. All use authentic buffalo bone, genuine turquoise, corals and various crystals. All beads are threaded onto sterling jewellery wire which has a secure clasp, earrings use the same. Hooks are .925 SS
The symbolism of Native American jewellery: Yes, it’s stunning, but it holds deep insight. Depending on tribal affiliations colours/meanings will vary.
Four directions: Beads represent the cardinal directions, with colors used: black for west which symbolises “the trail of tears”, red for east, yellow for south, and blue for north.
East = Red is triumph or power
North = blue = defeat or trouble
West = black = death or rebirth
South = white = peace or happiness
Cultural preservation: Wearing Native American jewellery honors tribal heritage. It passes down traditions to new generations.
Spiritual significance: Each piece holds the creator's blessings, connecting you to their culture. To me that is just so special! The energy is indescribable and I never ever cleanse my turquoise
Take care of your turquoise jewelry - it's a porous stone that can chip if dropped. Clean tarnished sterling wire with a soft jewellery cloth (we have them for sale).
Keep your necklaces away from perfumes, oils, and water to preserve the color and quality of the turquoise and buffalo bone. With proper care, your new piece will last forever! Bear in mind being handmade they are delicate quality. Please handle gently to avoid damaging the delicate fixings and beads.
